A TIME OF RECKONING
-
learning is of no value unless it is retained by the stu–
dent. Testing is one way to see how well a student retains what he is taught. How–
ever, theary alone is not enough. A student must also practice what is learned.
Noching in all earrh's recorded his–
rory
compares wich che insolence and
ucrer
lack of conscience
and CHARACfER
exhibiced by undisciplined yourhs
roday. But - we hasren

chese
undiscipl ined youths solely ro
blame for their misconduct? Whac
abouc che sysrem in which chey grew
up?
Examine che Results
Numerous F.B.I. reports show rhat
youngscers under 18 are responsible
for about one haJf of all serious
crimes in che Uniced Scaces. Sixceen–
year-olds commic more serious crimes
chan persons of any ocher age group.
le
is che same over mosc of che
Wescern world.
The Toronto
(Can–
ada)
Star
reporred recently: "Five
years ago, che annual cose of damage
inflicced on Toronto's 136 schools by
vandals was $10,000. Last year, ir was
more chan $200,000."

In London, England, a reacher's
union official spoke ouc severa!
monchs ago: "There's an increasing
amounc of indiscipline in che schools,
with teachers assaulced, srudencs bul–
lying one anocher, and vandalism. lc's
simply become more difficulc for
teachers to maintain control."
The nearly universal lack of crue
and effeccive moral craining in che
home and in che school is appalling.
Is it any wonder thac afcer che ordi–
nary cold, syphi lis and gonorrhea are
che most common infectious diseases
among young people?
This generarion is che end produce
of a serious lack of
right thinking
and
right knowledge.
Such knowledge
SHOULD be imparced in every home
and in every school.
T he
knowledge
of che value of human life and che
greac purpose of human exiscence is,
in truch, che very foundacion of all
true educacion. But in nearly every
~chool
and college chis very FOUNDA–
TION of cducacion is missing -
left
out.'
A False Foundarion
Mosr srudenrs are NOT raughr
how
to live,
whar che laws are rhar govern
human happincss, and whac is che ul–
rimacc purpose of human exisccnce.
Sociery irsclf has rejecred che very
foundarion - che srarring poinr of all
rrue knowlcdge - and che Crearor
and His revealed
laws
of life. .Man has
subscirured insread a foundation of
sand - che God-rejecring rheory of
evolurion. Therefore, our society and
our educacional sysrem are in terrible
moral scraics.
Though even in our warped society
che majoriry of young people enrer–
ing collegc srill believe - however
vaguely - in God, afcer four years of
" higher education" moscof chcm are
either arheiscs or agnoscics or simply
don't care. This, chen, is che ultimare
RESULT of our syscem of "cducacion,"
which produces men skilled only in
material knowledge, denying che Cre–
acor thac made rhem and His laws
given ro produce happiness.
Is rhere any alrernarive ro which a
young pcrson may turn in our mixed–
up sociery?
Ambassador Is Different
Today there is one college - on
three campuses - rhat offers a unique
alternacive ro che increasingly imper–
sonal and marerialiscic
cype
of educa–
rion which is che currenc norm in
Wescern culture. This is Ambassador
College- a coeducacional inscicucion
of liberal ares and theology rhar
excels
in providing
understanding
on che
really importane copies of life.
Ar Ambassador, scudencs are scim–
ulaced and challenged ro find
so/id
a11-

co che
why's
and
wherefore's
of
life and human existence. And
yet
Ambassador is distincdy NOTa "Bible

The
variety of classes, che
warmth and genuine exuberance
seen
in its acciviries, and irs srudenrs im–
mediarely resrify ro chi s facr.
