In his letter co che Corinthians, the
Apostle Paul is explaining why the
world's greac inrellecrs cannor com–
prehend che knowledge of what God
has in srore for man. He goes ro great
lengrh ro explain ir is not because of
big words or complicated language.
On che conrrary, he explains that he
used only plain, simple speech.
In chaprer

he shows iris not rhe
grear intellecrs that are able

on the contrary the more common
and simple among humans have been
called and
given

He wrires: "For you see your call–

but God hath chosen rhe . .. weak
rhings of che world ro confound che
rhings which are mighry; and base
things of the wodd, and things which
are despised, hath God chosen ...
that no flesh sbould glory in his pres–
ence.... And 1, brethren, when 1
carne ro you, carne not with excellency
of speech or of wisdom, declaring
unto you che restimony of God"
(I
Cor.
1
:26-29; 2:1).
In orher words chis spiritual
KNOWLEDGE is
reveaied
from God,
and is nor obrained
because
of a supe–
rior degree of human intellect. The
apostle is showing that even che
humble may comprehend. He writes
that "your faith should nor stand in
rhe wisdom of men, bur in che power
of God.... Bu r we speak the wisdom
of God ... even che hidden wis-
dom ... which none of che princes of
chis world knew ..." (verses
5-8).
The only way knowledge can enrer
rbe human mind, naru rally, is
through rhe eye, rhe ear, or che sense
of taste, smell, touch or feel. Paul
goes on
to
show that tbis spiritual
knowledge from God simply cannot
enrer the normal, natural mind - no
marcer how superior che inrellect.
"But as it is writren, Eye hath not
seen, nor ear heard, neither have en–
tered into che hearr of man, rhe
things which God hath prepared for
them rhat !ove him" (verse
9).
" BuT God hath
1·evealed
them unto
us by his Spirit ... " (verse
10),
re–
gardJess of the degree of human inrel–
lecr. In orher words, chis knowledge
of spiritual things does nor enrer
human minds by natural processes -
for spirir cannor be seen, heard,
smel led, felt nor rasred - and there is
no other way knowledge enrers the
mind naturally. The great minds of
che world. wirhour God's Spirir, are
confined
ro
knowledge of che PHYSI–
CAL. That's why, when another -per–
haps of lesser inrellecrual arrainmems
- speaks of spirirual rhings, ir ap–
pears as urrer f'OOLISHNESS
tO
the
highly educated mind. All his knowl–
edge is confincd ro PHYSICAL things.
Spiritual things are on a totally differ–
enr plane.
T he Mysrery Explained
Now we come to the verse thar ex–
plains ir all! The verse rhac has been
MISapplied by those who have ac–
cepted the ''immortal soul" fallacy .
"For whar man knoweth che
things of a man, save the spirit of
man whicb is in him? even so the
things of God knoweth no man, but
the Spirit of God" (verse
11).
Study rhat - in context. What
man KNOWS - has knowledge of -
che rhings of a man - what man
could have this HUMAN knowledge -
knowledge animal brain cannot re–
ceive - save by rhe
spirit of man
which is in him>
Animals do not have this spirit -
chis nonphysica1 componenr. Animal
brain therefore cannot perform as
does human MIND. And human brain
alone,
just BARELY
superior
ro
ani–
mal brain, could not have and utilize
chis human knowledge UNLESS there
was ADDED ro che physical brain chis
spirit
-
chis nonphysical componenr
chat is added
ro
man. And chis spirit,
associated with
human brain, function–
ing with human brain, produces che
inrellect that is awesome compared ro
animals.
Keep carefully in mind rhat rhe
MAN is
wholly
composed of matter -
from rhe dust of rhe ground.
Bur
God has
added
ro
man something
that is
not
rhe man buc something
added
ro che man - somerhing IN
him. And chis nonphysical something
- rhis
spirit
-
impares che power of
inrellect ro physical human brain. Just
how
1
will explain later.
But, even though man has chis
power of MIND,
bis
mind is conlined
ro receiving PHYSICAL knowledge.
The reason for rhis also later.
But, even as man could not know
che rhings of a MAN without che addi–
tion of che
spirit ofman,
even so, che
rhings of Goo cannor be compre–
hended wirhout che addirion of
anorher Spirir - rhe Holy Spirir of
