PASTOR GENERAL'S REPORT, November 14, 1980
Page 23
Just want to tell you how we appreciate Mr. Ron Miller (and his
family) as our minister. He is doing a great job here. Since he
has arrived, our churches in this area are growing much closer, as
well as spiritually. We hope he will be here a long time.
Donald R. Clark, (Clifton, CO)
I attend the Wheeling, West Virginia Church and am very thankful to
God for his servant, Mr. Lyle Johnston. I appreciate his strong and
powerful leadership, and the fine example his family sets for the
brethren here.
Martha Ripley (Freeport, OH)
I'd like to share something that touched us deeply. Our minister
and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Don Engle, invited us to their home
recently for a meal. Mrs. Engle served us as if we were royalty.
This was the first time in seventeen years of our membership in
the Worldwide Church of God that this has happened. We realize how
busy they are and the cost of everything. Their love and kindnesses
to the brethren and their humble, unaffected ways are what we need.
Dr. & Mrs. N.M. Ross (Wallace, NC)

A MAJOR VICTORY WON, BUT WAR NOT YET OVER
The battle against the enemies of the Work of the Living God is far from
over. We have simply won a major victory on the road to complete vindica
tion, but there is ever so much more to be done.
Monday, for example, in San Francisco and then again on the 25th of
November in Los Angeles, the Petris Bill, recently passed, will be sub
jected to committee and public hearings concerning possible amendments
which could adversely affect the Work of the Living God.
Those who opposed the Petris Bill and hate us and the Work of the Living
God will not cease in their efforts to destroy us.
In order to vindicate ourselves, our civil rights suit in Federal Court
hopefully will be filed during December 1980.
Meanwhile, although the Attorney General has requested the California
Court of Appeals to dismiss the appeal, we are awaiting the court's
ruling. In the past we have received no help at all from the California
District Court of Appeals, and from the entire Judiciary of the State of
California, and we cannot be too confident that the court will change its
attitude now.
Let us not forget that our enemies, including major power centers unhappy
with our success thus far, are continuing to clamor before federal, state
and local agencies that they continue to persecute the Work of the Living
God.
Let us not forget how our enemies have been willing to lie and perjure
themselves.
