The very na ture that is in humans
tends to relax, le t down, take the
course of least resist ance, escape
respons ibility and degenerate.
The world lives on the "GET"
motive. The world wants idleness,
ease and ENTERTA I MENT. The
commercial and indust rial interests
who sponsor and pay for television
programming and broadcasting
want the largest mass audience for
their money. lt's a matter of supply
and demand - and the public
demands programs that are excit–
ing, shocking, daring- and th is
means violence and illicit sex.
American television programs
are tailored lO what the public pre–
fers toview. And the public does not
find normal American living lhat
exciting. Therefore the programs
are nol self-por lrayals ofwhal ord i–
nary rouline American life is like.

has to be
different to be exciling
and ente rta ining. The mass au–
dience wants to be taken into a
dif–
ferent
a nd imaginary world of
excilement and interesl- to
escape
from lhe realities of ils own hum–
drum routine life.
So foreign audiences do nol
see, in these programs, ordinary
working men and women at 1heir
regular routine jobs.
Now we might ask, since mar–
keting these programs in other
countries creates a very distorted
conception of what day-to-day
American life is like- si nce they
create such a hostile American
image, WHY send them to other
count ries? Simply because they
pay a profit- and the selle rs a re
more interested in "GETTI NG" the
profits than in creating a favor–
able American image abroad!
The " Get " Mo tive
Huma nity has chosen the "cET"
way o f life.

has brought the
world all its countless evils. The
world goes on suffcring the evils,

but refuses to recognize the CAUSE.
The "GET" motive has given
Ame r ica economic affluence, a
higher living st anda rd of materia l
goods. Th is has fa iled to bring he r
people real happiness.

cont ributed to Amer ican unpopu–
larity, prejudice, hostili ty. Ameri–
cans are not gene ra ll y loved
a round the world.
The "GET" way rea lly does not
pay the biggest divide nds in the
long run. And that's wh a t 's
wrong with the world today-THE
WHOLE WORLD! That's the CAUSE
of world problems, natio n al
domestic problems, family and
individual problems.
