What Humans Can Do to
Humans
11
"Your magazine
The
PLAIN TRUTH
is a very stimulacing magazine, at one
time I really believed d1at no one cared.
I fought in Vietnam and was made aware
of wbat humans can do ro huruans. But as
one person, no one really listens. I'm glad
that you have caken the initiacive in point·
ing out the problems of our time and ar
the same time offering a solucion.
"1
must say this though, in a way it's
good that we are fighting the Communists
in Vietnam. Because if it ever carne to
fighting t:hem on our own land, the
civilians would never be able co cope with
all the sufferiog."

Critica! of Hearing-Aid Remarks
"We are writing to cake exception ro
d1e scatement which appeared in your
Marcb,
1971
issue of
The
PLAIN TRUTH,
in whicb you claimed t:hat hundreds and
d10usands of elderly are sold hearing aids
which do not work.
"The plain truth of the matter is d1at
a Public Health su.rvey has shown that
93% of hcaring-aid wearers are satisfied
with their hearing aids. Dealers who are
members of the Nacional Hearing Aid
Society subscribe to the Sociery's Codc of
Ethics, and are conscientious in their care
of d1e hard of hearing.
If
a hearing aid
gives unsatisfaccory service or 'does not
work,' che purcbaser should certainly see
bis dealer, who will, in most cases, make
every effort to determine d1e cause of
unsatisfactory service and provide t:he
oecessary assiscance to the purcbaser.
"The greatest problem of the hard of
bearing is to accept the need for a hearing
aid and to seek hclp for a hearing loss.
You have done t:he hard of hearing a great
disservice by discouraging thcm from seek–
ing the help whicb will provide them with
a normal lifc io the world of sound."

OPEN LETTER ON THE " JESUS TRIP
11
- To all those who challenged vari–
ous aspects of the article which
appeared in the March 1971 issue
of
The
PLAIN TRUTH magazine.
Dear Friend:
Your letter concerning the "Jesus Trip"
was appreciated. I understand fully your
poinc of view - even if you fail to under·
stand mine.
First: I did not "judge" the SINCER·
ITY of the young people of whom I spoke.
1
very much
díd
"judge" the subscance of
their factua l knowledge! It is claimed
many have gone "cold turkey" off drugs,
and t:hat they can ONLY do this through
dle power of Chrisc. Nonsense. Many have
quit drugs, smoking, or other powerful
habits ooly because t:hey knew they
had
ro - and they accomplished it all on their
own HUMAN strength. It is uue Ch.rist
can HELP a person (if he is truly in con·
tact wit:h the real CHRIST) to overcome
terrible habits - but to ASSUME young–
sters have the RIGHT JESUS
because
they're kicking t:he drug habit is na!ve.
You reacted suongly.
But you failed to accept my cballenge.
1
asked, almost pleaded wich, you and
eacb other person who read this article to
find the TRUE Jesus Cbrist! Is anything
WRONG with that cballenge? Certainly,
if you feel you ARE a Christian, you have
NOTI-IING TO FEAR in looking into the
BIBLE to substanciare your own beliefs,
have you?
Perbaps you're so "rurned off" about
Garner Ted Armsuong you just will not
believe ME! Fine. I never asked you to.
l
have always said, "Don't believe ME,
but believe what you
see
PROVED, in
your own Bible."
So will you take the time ro READ,
carefully, the WHOLE ARTICLE
1
have
just written for TOMORROW'S WORLD
magazine? Please read it - all of it.
If
you're not yet a subscriber ro TOMOR–
ROW'S WORLD, we will be most happy
to send you a copy containing dle artide
- or a year's subscriptioo- free.
Can you then also believe that
1
am
sincere, too, and that I write these things
in LOVE, and in the hope that well–
meaning people will REALLY discover
the uue Jesus Christ?
If
they do, they'll
want ro have a part with HIM in HIS
WORK! Thar's the Work of whicb I am
a part, today!
Sincere!y,
Garner Ted Armstrong
