Even though the U.S. presidential
election is a year away, the presiden–
tia! campaign has been going on for
over ayear now. Taking a page from
President Carter's own campaign
strategy, a number of candidates

gan their run for the presidency

before the final
votes will be counted. "Once again,''
as
Time
magazine says, "the presi–
dential field is prematurely swarm-
