in the past four years

had many personal meetings
with heads of state, kings, presi–
dents, prime ministers, cabinet min–
is te rs, members of law-making
bod ies, leading educators and o ther
world leade rs. But why?
They kno w also that besid es
being the editor of

PLAI N
TRUTH,

am an ordained minister
and presiden! of the Wordwide
Church of God.
So sorne may wonder, what pos–
sible connection could there be be–
tween the problems of governments
and the message of Jesus Christ?
As

have sa id before,

ha ve been
invited fo r these príva te ta lks. " But
wha t do you talk about in these
meetings?" many ask. We ta lk
about their problems - about wor ld
problems and conditions. We talk
about the ir strugg les to better the lo t
of the ir peoples- about the ir views
and e ffo rts toward world peace.
What Possible Relation to
Government?
" But wha t does that have to do
with the gospel?" sorne will ask. The
answer is, governments and govern–
ment problems have
the very most
vital conneclion
with the gospel of
Christ.
Yet few understand!
The
PLAIN TRUTH
is
a magazine of
UNDERSTANOING. And OUr mass ive
reade rship of sorne eight miUion
needs to understand. If and when
PLAIN TRUTH July·August 1973
one knows
what is
the gospel of Jesus
Christ, he will understand why these
meetings are so impo rta n!. He will
understand also why highe r educa–
tion and virtua lly the entire educa–
tional system has turned its back on
religion and the Bible. He will un–
de rstand why. in groping fo r trutb
to replace the superstition of what
educators and scientists
supposed
was the gospel , they have developed
the theory of evolution as the basic
concept and approach to knowledge.
Neither religion nor government
nor education has found the
cause
of the fri ghtful evils in today's
world, nor have they found the solu–
tions to the tragic problems of suf–
fe ring humanity. They fa il utterly to
point the way to o r to produce
peace! The evolu ti ona ry theory
gives no explanation fo r the real vi–
tal problems of today's very sick
wo rld.
It
offers no solutions. But the
gospel of Jes us Chr is t -
if
they only
knew what ir is
-
does give the ra–
tiona l and true ex pla na tion, and
it
outlines the solution tha t wiU be
made!
But, one may ask in bewilder–
ment , doesn' t
every body
know what
is the gospel of J esus Christ? Hasn't
it been preached fo r more than 1900
years?
lncredible or not, the answe r is an
empha tic NO! Christ's gospel
was
not proclaimed to the world
fo r over
18!h centuries !
Tha t, I know, is a staggering
statement. It may sound absurd.
People will ask, " But haven' t they
preached Chris t to the world ?
Haven' t they pJeaded BELIEVE ON
CHRI ST a nd ACCEPT CHRI ST?
Haven' t millions believed on Christ?
Haven' t mill ions accepted Christ -
professed Christ? Do not millions
call the ir re ligion a fter his name -
the Christian re ligion? And isn' t
Christianity the la rgest religion on
earth, with more followers than any
other relig ion?" Quite true.
Christ ls Not the Gospel
But preachin g Cbris t is no t
preaching Chr is t's gospel! Christ the
pe rson is no t the gospel! Chris t was
the messenger who brought the gos–
pel - the messenger God sent with
a MESSAGE fo r all mankind - and
that message is the gospel.
The very word "gospel" means
"good news." Jesus brought BIG
news - the mos t importan! news
anno uncement ever repo rted to
mankind.
It
is the advance news of
how WORLD PEACE will come !
Jesus Christ, the person, is the
grea tes t, mos t impo rtan! pe rson
ever to walk on this earth. But he. as
a person, is no t the gospel. The mir–
acles he performed are not the gos–
pel. The things Jesus did are not the
gospel. Wha t he preached - the tre–
mendous good news he announced
- is the GOSPEL.
