visions ever recorded.
Four Horsemen in Vision
As J ohn scrolled along one of che
sandy beaches on che isle of Patmos,
he heard a booming, human-like

pase his eyes. Ir was as though
he
were
in
anocher world, in anorher
age. Then carne whac seemed a mosr
preposcerous series of images:
the Four
Honemm of the ApocalypJe.
The horse–
men flashed by, one ar a time, in scac–
caco succession.
Thundering across che landscape
carne che firsr of rhese beasrs, a pow–
erful whire horse. Astride che horse
was an apparicion in whice. As che
horse loomed
ever
closer, che appari–
rion appeared ro be a ghos tl y rider. Ir
looked like a conquering crusader.
Yer the image of whireness gave che
sraruesque horse and rider a saintly,
religious aura.
Then suddenly, in an insranc of
rime,
che
whire horse and irs rider
melced away. As chis image vaporized,
John could hear che pounding hoofs
of anocher galloping beasc on che far
horizon. The phanrom seemed co
blend in with che heat waves; che ani–
mal ouc chere was only a reddish
blob. But its chundering hoofs were
bearing louder and louder. Closer and
closer it carne. John shaded bis eyes
with his hand and squinred ro see che
specrer more clearly. As ir neared, che
animal rook che form of a second
horse. lt was blood-red in color.
