PLAIN TRUTH Launches News Column
Editor in Chief Herbert W. Armstrong often refers to The PLAIN TRUTH as a
newsmagazine. To further expand the magazine's news appeal, Mr. Armstrong
approved reinstating a news column in The PLAIN TRUTH beginning with the
January, 1985 issue.
The new column, titled "News Overview," will cover trends or significant
events in business, finance, science, technology and education, and update
readers on environmental and social concerns.
Our society is in a hurry. Articles in The PLAIN TRUTH compete for an in
dividual's time. These short, piquant articles will often direct readers
to full-length articles on the same subject within the magazine or in a fu
ture issue.
Research and ideas will be contributed by the regional offices around the
world as well as the Editorial Services staff in Pasadena. The field minis
try, especially those of you in the international areas, can assist by
keeping Editorial Services abreast of significant events and trends in your
areas. Keep in mind that "significant" means the event or trend is of broad
regional or international importance--something that can be used as a posi
tive or negative example to inform our readers about today's world condi
tions.
"News Overview" will make The PLAIN TRUTH even more quotable and should
help strengthen the international appeal of the magazine.

Excellent Response to Recent Co-worker Letters
The response from co-workers to both Mr. Armstrong's September and October
letters has been outstanding. These letters are currently running third
and fourth in number of responses compared to all letters sent out in the
past six years which did not offer literature. This very fine response
