Comments From Monthly Church Reports
SACRAMENTO, CA--JOEL LILLENGREEN: Many are suffering from family
and personal trials. Satan seems to be working hard to discourĀ
age people.
Mr. Armstrong's tapes are stirring people to be
"doers."
PIKEVILLE, KY--WARREN HEATON III: Mr. Armstrong is really g1v1ng
us the depth we need in his tapes. I expect continued growth in
the area because of the TV broadcast now airing on Sunday.
Having a permanent hall in which to meet has continued to help
the attitude of the people in spite of escalating problems with
unemployment, etc. The church area really seems to be growing
closer week by week.
JONESBORO, AR--CLYDE KILOUGH:
Have appreciated the follow-up
tapes from Mr. Armstrong going into the deeper aspects of God's
Spirit and sin.
They've helped the brethren better understand
the make-up ruling and that it is an issue in which the
principles of spiritual sin apply to everyone, not just the
women.
KNOXVILLE, TN--DAVID L. ORBAN:
There may be a few in our
congregation still struggling over the make-up policy, but there
is no outward visible problem.
Members have accepted and are
following Mr. Armstrong's correction. Mr. Armstrong's follow-up
comments on Bible study and sermon tapes about make-up seemed to
greatly help the brethren's understanding and adherence to this
change.
GRAND RAPIDS/BRAINERD, MN--STAN McNEIL: Members are growing and
responding to the forward thrust in the Work. "Localitis" trend
is decreasing. All members seem loyal to Mr. Armstrong and God's
Church.
Spokesman Club producing fruit.
Weekly Bible study
attendance has increased to two-thirds of Sabbath attendance.
Grand Rapids Bible study attendance is over one-half of regular
Sabbath attendance.
MIDLAND/LUBBOCK, TX: HOBBS, NM--KEITH WALDEN: Many moving into
the area for work. "Boom-town" is really growing.
Church is
anxious to help those moving in. Growth is always a help for
positive attitudes. Our area is positive! some serious sickness
in this area--a real trial of people's faith.
Hobbs had two
families move--hurt our attendance, but the brethren hope for
growth with the excellent work opportunities available in the
area.
