thousand may fall at thy side, and
ten thousand at thy right hand;
but it shall not come nigh thee"
(Psalm 91 :7 ). God says He will
shelter His people- those who
obey Him- in a "secret place"
(verse 1), a place of safety (Reve–
lation 12:6) " until these calami–
ties be overpast' ' (Psalm 57:1;
lsaiah 26:20-2 1) .
What about the rest of hu–
manity though- all t hose who
do not turn to God at this time?
Are they to be written off with–
out hope '? Are they all doomed?
No, God is going to intervene
and cut the suffering and blood–
shed short before the point of
total human annihilation is
reached ( Matthew 24:22). He
will establish His Government
on earth-a Government of
peace and justice. The longed–
for Mi llennium- 1,000 years of
God's righteous ru le- will at
last be a real ity. Those who are
st ill alive at the time will live on
into that glorious age.

is true that millions will have
perished in the tumultuous events
just preceding God's intervention.
But for them also there is
good
news!
Their lives will not have been
wasted . They will be resu r–
rected- brought back to life–
after the Millennium. Then they
will have the opportunity to com–
pare the past 6 ,000 years with
1.000 years of God's rule- and
they will finally begin to live
according to God's ways in a
harmonious, tranquil and pros–
perous world. What wonderful
news! They will remember the
world the way it was when man
ruled- under the sway of Satan .
They will recall the heartache and
suffering and emptiness. Sudden–
ly they will find themselves see–
ing a glorious earth produced by
1,000 years of peace under God's
Government. And they will rec–
ognize that God's ways and laws

So while there may be sorne
bad news on the immediate hori–
zon, down the road there is good
news for everyone who will
heed.
The crisis at the close of this
age may be compared to the pains
suffered in chi ldbirth. " ... We
have heard a cry of panic, of
terror, and no peace. Ask now,
and see, can a man bear a child?
Why then do 1 see every man
with his hands on his loins like a
woman in labor? Why has every
face turned paJe? Alas! that day is
so great there is none like it; it is
a time of d ist ress for Jacob ..."

This will be a time of trouble
such as the world has never secn
before.
A woman's birth pangs, howev–
er, do not last. They eventually
give way to the thrill of birth.
" When a woman is in travail she
has sorrow, because her hou r has
come; but when she is del ivered
of th e child, s he no longer
remembers the anguish, for joy
that a ch ild is born into the
wor ld" (John 16:21 , RSV).
Out of the worldwide convul–
sions at the end of this age of
man's rule will be born a new
world order- the rule of God and
the wonderful World Tomorrow.
It
is as David wrote, " ... weep–
ing may endure for a night [that 's
the bad news], but joy cometh in
the morning [that 's the
good
news!) " (Psalm 30:5).
